Singer-songwriter based in the Philippines, TALA aka Tala Gil, takes her music to the next level. Having dropped her second and latest EP ‘Call Me When You Wake Up,’ she hopes for listeners to feel seen as her lyrics relive her personal experiences. Upon her EP release, she added a special touch: an interactive lyric book! Check out the full interview!

Born into a musical family and surrounded by musicians, it was an obvious path to follow in their footsteps. Fun fact, she had trained for ballet under the Royal Academy School of Music Dance. It was no question that art was a calling. Down below, Tala tells us more about her upbringing and her appreciation for music:

At the age of 14, her father who is also a musician, had given her the opportunity to perform a song during a gig at a bar. It was his way of letting her experience of performing in front of a live audience. And because she had full reign of every moment of her performance, from choosing the song to perform and playing the guitar herself, it was in that moment she realized this was something she was meant for.

Listen to her ‘call me when you wake up’ EP and check out the INTERACTIVE LYRIC BOOK inspired by this project, composed of several personal interpretations from people she had reached out to. Her personal favorite interpretation was the screenplay a friend cultivated about the song “Sandcastles”.

As she continues to grow as an artist, she’s always looking for ways to share her art and a sneak peek into her brain through virtual interaction as we live through a digital age where virtual experiences are at its peak!

There’s an art piece...basically this girl got broken up with and over email. And she sent the email to so many people and had them reply with like ‘what do you think this means?’ and some people came back with crossword puzzles. So I figured I could do something similar with my music.

There are artists out there who have taken inspiration from random moments in their lifetime. And that also goes for Tala, especially with her song “Bruised”:

After the release of her second EP, she’s got a lot in store! From enhancing her music knowledge through diving deeper with music theory to creating music inspired by a video game, she’s an artist you will want to watch!
