New up & coming artist Monét Ngo, releases new song based on “projecting that person I see in my dreams onto this random stranger”

The best part of discovering a new artist and falling in love with their music is getting to connect with them. On this particular occasion, I had the opportunity to do exactly that with one of my top favorite new rising artists, Monét Ngo.

Monét shared with us how he is still trying to balance being a substitute teacher to kids from 6 to 11 years old, 8 hours a day while trying to make music full time, “ yeah, it’s never enough time, and then there’s like other stuff you wanna do too, just like to be healthy, you gotta eat!” he explained and laughed. It is truly a process and something that everyone deals with in different ways, and it might take some time to see a big change but if we’re going to succeed we have to put in the work.

Now with that in mind, Ngo dedicates his weekends to his music, he’s more of a melody first type of artist but he’d like to switch it around and focus more on the lyrics.

We also discussed how writing is definitely harder than melodies for him. Writing really comes when he feels really inspired and actually feels something that’s deep to him. Otherwise, if it’s just another day where he’s not feeling into it, then he’s not going to write something interesting, but considers it important to constantly write to keep practicing.

It was a very natural process for him to discover he wanted to do music. His most vivid memory of him getting the first taste of that sensation of joy for music was when he was 6 years old and banging on the piano. He really liked making sounds and getting lost in them and noticing his dad behind him appreciating how much he enjoyed those moments playing really stuck with him.

Later on, in college, he started freestyling and getting into rap music. He developed an interest in hip hop when he was 18, and at the same time, he started rapping, taking him back to that old familiar feeling of getting lost in what he was creating.

Fast-forward to 2022, we were given a gem on a golden plate. “Ruby Sparks” became one of the most played songs on our I’ve Got The Aux team playlist and it’s time for you to experience the same feeling we got from it. This is the second song and second release of the year from Monét Ngo. We couldn’t be more content with the result

The whole concept of the song started with a normal date, followed by the first moments of liking a person that you’ve never met before, and the feeling that they’re perfect in every way.

The story behind “Ruby Sparks” is truly quite something and I’m sure more than one will relate to it, making it even more of a success.

Let’s not forget about the other masterpiece he released “Lonestar”!
