Jordn, the LA-based artist behind the “High Hopes” EP cinematic soundscape

Just dropping his latest EP titled High Hopes, Jordn is setting the bar HIGH for rising artists. He’s written for and collabed with artists such as Chris Brown while simultaneously working hard to elevate his own music. From the Caribbean Island of Dominica and currently based in Los Angeles, his songs are also influenced beyond his culture and hometown by artists like Taylor Swift and Drake! Get to know Jordn, the artist behind the EP that will bless your ears.

Coming from humble beginnings, Jordn’s first memory of recording music was the time his elder brother wrote a verse and asked for him to rap on his track. Fast forward to today, Jordn has released his High Hopes EP and is already working on another one! And during a listening session for a Finesssed Media, Inc. saturday event, the chat BLEW UP as soon as his song “Come Down” played.

An artist’s music can be influenced by anything, really. For Jordn, his main takeaway being an artist from the Island of Dominica is the “diversity aspect”. There is no specific genre that they stick with back home and they have their own type of music that’s fast-paced. There is also an accent he doesn’t fully have from the dialect in his hometown but mainly tries to carry a neutral-sounding accent when recording. Apart from that, he listens to dancehall, R&B, reggae, hiphop and more. If the song sounds good to him, he’ll listen no matter the genre.

Creative processes vary from song to song for Jordn! There’s no one way he gets the creative juices flowing. Sometimes he gets a feeling, other times he gains inspiration from being in some mood. Perhaps a piano melody could peak his interest, or literally he’ll get on a mic and do a verbal stream of consciousness until words start to click.

When asked how Jordn implemented his philosophy “live with purpose and follow your dreams” into his daily life, this was his answer:
