j solomon bridges folk music and new city experiences

j solomon is the brainchild of ambient folk-inspired and indie-rock artist Jesse Moldovsky. Born in Philadelphia and currently based in New York, j solomon’s gives us a glimpse of his upbringing through his music, taking inspiration from his personal experiences and translating them into lyrics.

Pennsylvania and New York, though entirely different places, emerged the rise of j solomon. The storytelling between the lines of his lyrics, influenced by experiences of upbringing, cultivated a space for listeners to generate their own interpretations of his music. The transition from Philly’s forests and farms to the chaos of New York produced j solomon’s creativity.

Fun fact, he began playing the guitar at 12 and only played for his mom until he turned 17 to which he took to the stage at World Cafe Live in Philly. From there he joined the Philadelphia folk song society, being the youngest one there. Eventually, he landed himself in the underground basement, punk indie rock scene. Now he’s in New York living it up!

Since then, j solomon has released an EP titled “Cobalt” with several singles such as “Greetings from Suburbia” and “Mona Lisa” following its debut. Within the EP, a song by the same name turned out to be a fan favorite. Listen down below to hear about its creation:

During the time he was writing this song, he was fascinated with the concept of linguistics, the study of language and structure. For this reason, the knowledge he gained out of this study enhanced his writing and storytelling.

To follow in j solomon’s footsteps of being a successful up and coming artist, he has 3 things for you to keep in mind:

  1. Try everything.

  2. You have everything you need if you have access to the internet.

  3. There are so many ways to be professional and make music at no cost. The playing fields is so level when TikTok exists.

Follow j solomon and stay tuned for his future releases!
